The Consumer Services Guide is searchable directory of resources which can help you with consumer problems and questions. There are multiple editions of the ‘Guide’, some which deal with specific issues such as housing or credit. The full directory, the Consumer Service Guide Edition, provides access to all the resources collected by Consumer Action.

  • Sacramento County District Attorney
    Takes complaints and investigates advertising fraud, business misrepresentation and environmental problems.

  • Safe Drinking Water Hotline, (EPA)
    The hotline answers questions on the Safe Drinking Water Act, rules and regulations, and consumer questions.

  • San Diego City Attorney
    Investigates and prosecutes consumer fraud, false or misleading advertising, unlawful business practices and environmental pollution violations.

  • San Francisco Immigrant Legal & Education Network (SFILEN)
    SFILEN works to achieve this mission of immigrant rights through building grassroots leadership, providing free immigration legal services and comprehensive legal assistance, promoting community education, and organizing to empower the immigrant community.

    Advises tenants on their rights. Publishes "San Francisco Tenants' Rights Handbook" and "Tenant Times." Drop-in counseling for non-members; phone counseling for members only. Assistance in tenant organizing. Call for hours.

  • San Mateo County Bar Association
    Recorded information on legal subjects of public interest.

  • San Mateo County District Attorney
    The mission of the District Attorney’s Office is the prosecution of adult and juvenile offenders, to provide services to victims of crime, enforcement of consumer and environmental laws, provision of legal and investigative support to other law enforcement agencies, and dissemination of public information about law enforcement.

  • Santa Clara County District Attorney
    Complaints are taken in writing. Call for a complaint form or write to the above address detailing the circumstances of your complaint. Provides information and referral; landlord/tenant information also available. Offices in San Jose.

  • Santa Cruz County District Attorney
    Advises on buyer-seller disputes; provides legally-binding mediation/arbitration and investigates and prosecutes consumer fraud, misleading advertising and unfair business practices.

  • Santa Monica City Attorney
    Provides free services to Santa Monica residents whose rights have been violated by Santa Monica businesses. Santa Monica residents experiencing problems in other locations will be referred to the appropriate agency.
