There are multiple editions of the ‘Guide’, some which deal with specific issues such as housing or credit.   • Disability Services and Legal Center
    DSLC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that offers many ways for individuals and corporations to assist our efforts to serve people with disabilities in Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino and Lake counties. We depend on the support of our community to continue our programs and services.

  • Disabled American Veterans
    This non-profit organization represents all of America’s veterans and their families. It has around two hundred and sixty trained National Service Officers that help veterans at no charge. All the nationwide free services provided to veterans and their families are funded by public contributions and membership dues.

  • Easter Seals
    This Nationwide organization represents families with disabilities. It provides services including after school programs, health and wellness centers, child development centers and early intervention. It also sends out a monthly newsletter with disability-related news. You can check the website for the office location nearest you.

  • Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA)
    HLAA provides assistance and resources for people with hearing loss and their families to learn how to adjust to living with hearing loss. HLAA is working to eradicate the stigma associated with hearing loss and raise public awareness about the need for prevention and the importance of regular hearing screenings throughout life.

  • Helen Keller Services for the Blind (HKSB)
    This non-profit agency has many services and programs that help blind people of all ages. It teaches and rehabilitates thousands of residents of Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and Nassau and Suffolk Counties in New York. Information, resources, and HKSB's publications are found online.

  • IndependenceFirst
    This non-profit organization provides education, advocacy, independent living services, independent living skills training, peer counseling, and information and referral services to persons with disabilities in the counties of Waukesha, Washington, Ozaukee, and Milwaukee. The website contains details about the organization’s programs and services, as well as news, disability-related information, and resources and links.

  • Independent Living Center of Southern California, Inc. (ILC)
    A non-profit 501 (c) (3) consumer-based, non-residential agency providing a wide range of services to a growing population of people with disabilities. The ILCSC is dedicated to providing the services which will offer persons with disabilities the opportunity to seek an individual course towards independence - while educating the community.

  • Legal Aid Society of San Diego Inc
    Provides legal services on issues involving juvenile court, criminal court, immigration, housing, Social Security, health, family law and some consumer issues.

  • Make A Wish Foundation
    This organization grants the wishes of children under the age of eighteen who are suffering from a life-threatening medical condition.

  • National Association for the Deaf
    This organization helps to maintain the rights of the deaf. It provides programs in the areas of education, employment, healthcare, and telecommunications. The NAD finds the key issues that are facing the deaf and provides infomation and resources to the consumer. Finally it offers youth leadership training and many more services for the deaf.

  • National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD)
    This organization is a good resource for people who have or want to learn about learning disabilities. Fact sheets, lists of topics about learning disabilities, research news and helpful guides are all found online.

  • National Center on Physical Activity and Disability (NCPAD)
    The goal of this organization is to help people with disabilities pursue the physical activities that they enjoy. It provides hundreds of programs and resources all over the country that people can become involved in. Free information on many disability-related topics and videos are also found on the website.

  • National Council on Disability (NCD)
    The National Council on Disability (NCD) is an independent federal agency, composed of 15 members appointed by the President, by and with the consent of the U.S. Senate.   • National Disability Rights Network (NDRN)
    The National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) is the nonprofit membership organization for the federally mandated Protection and Advocacy (P&A) Systems and Client Assistance Programs (CAP) for individuals with disabilities. Collectively, the P&A/CAP network is the largest provider of legally based advocacy services to people with disabilities in the United States.

  • National Military Family Association - Resources for families with disability
    Support for military families with special needs family members is provided through the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP).
