Rhode Island - Attorney General

The Consumer Protection Unit investigates and mediates consumer complaints concerning unfair and unlawful business practices and misleading advertising arising out of alleged violations of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
The Consumer Unit is also responsible for enforcement of the Telephone Sales Solicitation Act (R.I. Gen. L. § 5-61-1, et seq.), a state law which requires most for-profit telemarketers calling within or into Rhode Island to register their businesses annually.
